Uber helps decongest traffic via #POOLsquad

uberPOOL is Uber's attempt to help decongest the monstrous traffic in Metro Manila. The goal is to lessen the cars travelling around the same time going to the same destination. Through this ridesharing program, commuters no longer have to endure the stressful commute through public transportation while private car owners no longer have to drive alone to and off work.

To promote uberPOOL, the popular ridesharing app launched #POOLsquad — a Metro-wide competition to see which squad can get the most cars off Manila’s roads.

Riders can choose which of the three celebrity squads are they joining to by entering the corresponding promo code on the Uber app. The following are the three celebrity #POOLsquads to choose from:

Riders need only to enter one code in the app. All of their succeeding uberPOOL rides will automatically be counted to their chosen squad.

From August 15 to September 4, uberPOOL will tally how many cars each squad has gotten off the road in real time. The winning squad will receive free uberPOOL rides for each of its top riders. Overall top riders, on the other hand, will get free Uber credits of up to P10,000!

To kick off the promo, riders' first uberPOOL rides on Monday, August 15, will have a flat rate of P50! Perfect for us kuripots, right?
